The common questions about the environmental
association centre:
I. Who/what are we?
In February 1996, Green Front of Iran (Green Peace)
environmental NGO, suggested the 7th area of Tehran’s
municipality, a scheme for joint co-operation in which
the round building in the west wing of
Azadegan park was chosen as the centre of the training work shops.
In Novamber 1997, on the birthday of our 12th Imam, this
centre was inaugurated officially under the name of
children and nature, having the families as witness.
The title of perpetual environmental training workshop
changed into environmental association centre since
the beginning of the year 1997. This organization is
one of the first places joint responsibilities of an
NGO and the municipality.
II. What is Green Front of Iran (Green Peace)?
Green Peace of Iran is one of the first and biggest
environmental NGOs in Iran containing a group of
environmentalists. Four medicine students got its
legal ground from the ministry of interior as a
non-profit, non-governmental and non-political
organization in 1994. Our intention is to promote the
society’s environmental culture through informing and
sensitizing the people and the authorities.
We are a group of people gathered to help each other
make small or big steps towards saving the environment
and nature.
III. What is the informing project for citizens of the
4th region of Tehran’s 7th area?
In March 1999 the organization suggested the
municipality, a program called 5-year-program of
environmental informing of the citizens of the 4th
region of Tehran’s 7th area and since the beginning of
Agust 2000, after the agreement, the program was put
in action. In this project with the help of the people, we are
supposed to work on the environmental elements such as
using water, energy, and green belts (areas) through
ways like training school children and families, using
work shops, training classes, local gatherings, web,
etc.
IV. What are our financial sources?
We took part in a purchase by the municipality of the
7th area of Tehran. And since October 2001 we have
started the second year of the program and the related
costs are secured via this legal solution by the
municipality.
V. What is our pint of view and our aim?
We think about healthy people in healthy houses and
cities. And to promote the citizens’ environmental
knowledge and we wish to facilitate the contact
between the citizens and the city managers to
co-operate in managing the city and making better life
and a healthy city.
VI. How can you join us?
We have tried to make a suitable place for your
participation. A small office in cold winter nights
and hot summer days, which can be your second home
too. We are always awaiting any kind of co-operation
